    Description

    Offered for sale is the USMC LEATHER FLIGHT JACKET of LT COL CLARENCE F. ZINGHAM who flew F4U CORSAIRs during World War 2 with VMF-214 THE BLACK SHEEP SQUADRON commanded by Pappy Boyington. Zingham known by the call sign Zing served both in WW2 and the Korean Conflict. He received numerous medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and 9 Air Medals. (ALL OF THE ABOVE INFORMATION ABOUT ZINGHAM WERE FOUND ON THE INTERNET)
    His Bureau of Aeronautics Flight Jacket Intermediate was made by Ralph Edward’s Sportswear Contract No. O.M. (CTM) 2313 and is a size 44. This flight jacket has his leather name patch with his name and pilots wings on it. The condition of the jacket is GOOD / VERY GOOD considering it’s age and use. The leather in the jacket is intact, shows areas of wear with no tears and is still flexible. The brown woven cloth cuffs are frayed and worn through in spots. The brown woven cloth at the base of the jacket is stretched and has some holes and is frayed in spots. The brown silk lining has only a tear near the neck line but is otherwise intact. The brown wool color is intact showing minimal wear. All buttons are present and the zipper works. All areas of this Leather flight jacket are repairable by a good seamstress!
