I STARTED COLLECTING GEMS IN THE MID 70S, ABOUT THE TIME I STARTED MAKING JEWELRY. I'VE HAD THOUSANDS OF GEMS PASS THROUGH MY HANDS OVER THE LAST 50 YEARS. IN 1993 I GRADUATED FROM THE Gemological Institute of America, then in Santa Monica, CA. I always wanted to study gems in a formal environment but the time and the cost always seemed prohibitive.......until someone sold me synthetic gems as authentic. Thinking they were genuine I set them in nice, custom gold pieces and sold them to good customers. When I found out the gems were synthetic, I had to call my customers back and tell them the embarrassing story. Some of them are my friends and clients today. I spent the money and the time and was awarded a degree as a Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) from the Gemological Institute of America, in 1997.It's been a few years since I've made jewelry and not sure if I'm going back to it. I decided to let go some of the gems I have left. Good luck.
PLEASE FIND FOR SALE A LOT OF 2 PIECES OF NATURAL RED CORAL

rrcollectibles1877 A short history.
At 11 years old, in the summer of 1960, I had 8 different part time fobs. Mostly relating to
newspapers. Some yard maintenance and some babysitting. At first, I walked my routes in a small, at the time, in the outer edges or LA county. Eventually I was able to purchase a new Western Flyer bicycle form Western Auto on the payment plan with my mother cosigning. It was .00 a month for 10 months. I loved the bike.
At 16 years old I left home and worked full time in a metal fabrication department for a company that made patio furniture. I was the second fastest production operator on the brake and punch out presses in the plant. The Forman was the fastest. Also crushed 4 digits on my hands.
At 19 years old I was a Sargent in charge of an Airborne Infantry Squad which had a M-60 machine gun crew. I was sent to the Republic of Viet Nam. Was wounded in the end of 67. When I came home I couldn't find a comfortable place to work so started my own business. In the late 60s and early 70s I made leather products, sold to a few stores and on the streets of San Francisco to the tourists. One of the first shops I sold to, when they had only two stores, was the Gap.
After about 10,000 belts and a good number of bags, satchels and key fobs I moved on to Jewelry. I started selling my silver as a San Francisco Street Artist (San Francisco Street Artist License No 28)
As I got into gold and precious gems I moved on to art shows first in Florida then eventually up the entire east coast along with the mid-west. Atlanta, Virginia Beach, New York City, all the big towns in Ohio, then on to Detroit, Ann Arbor, Chicago, and many cities in between then back down south. While doing the touring I received over 70 awards for design and craftsmanship. By the time I was 40 I had my own jewelry store and became a Graduate Gemologist (GIA) in Delray Beach Florida. I designed, manufacturing, sold and appraising jewelry for 1100 families. During that time, I designed, developed, and taught the jewelry program for the Boca Raton Museum. I retired from the store (sold out at 50) and only took on custom work or one-of-a-kind pieces for special clients.
I moved back to Colorado (was born in Denver) about 10 years ago. Yes, I'm no spring chicken. For the last several years I have been creating works in wood and have plans to combine gems with fine wood products. In the mean time I started collecting antique woodworking tools. I studied and worked with many a vintage tool. Realizing I could find good tools at auctions and bring them to the public at a lower price that I had been paying.
I LOVE OLD TOOLS MOSTLY WOODWORKING TOOLS BUT I MAY VARY A LITTLE. I ALSO LIKE ART AND CRAFTS, HAVING BEEN A CRAFTSMAN ALL MY LIFE. I BUY WHAT I LIKE, SOMETIMES IT DOSE NOT MAKE IT TO AUCTION IF I LIKE IT TO MUCH. SOMETIMES I CAN ONLY KEEP IT FOR A WHILE.
