Antique SILVER Czechoslovakia Sokol Buckle 1887 "REPLACEMENT" Slet/Rally READ !

Extremely interesting piece of Sokol History from the Great Replacement Slet of 1887. A huge Sokol gathering was planned to take place in Prague in 1887 when the city fathers/police decided that it was too much of an event and decided to limit the event to only the local groups. 250 Falcons from the USA were already on the way, returning to their former homeland to participate. The organizers in Prague were Not going to be deterred and went searching around for another town as host. Cesky Brod was finally chosen , the groups from the USA were warmly greeted there upon arrival and 40,000 people swarmed the little town of 4,000...overall a Huge Success with the USA members competing and a great time was had by all. This Slet is still celebrated today on its anniversary and is a fine example of many of the Sokol Values. The buckle is unmarked but has been tested and is Guaranteed to be Silver, measures aprox 2 1/8" X 1 1/4", is beautifully Hand Engraved ( Not cast) in addition it has the name of the Chicago Sokol Falcon engraved on the back.
